James (Jim) Marstiller has practiced interior design for over 25 years. Previously, he served as the Facilities Planner and Manager for Gabberts, Inc in Texas, however, he is now the principle of The Marstiller Group, a consulting and design firm specializing in environments for our aging society. Jim has also joined the interior design faculty at the Art Institute of Dallas where his teaching focus is institutional, corporate and residential design, building codes and environmental issues, contracts and specifications, color, lighting, ergonomics and marketing.
Jim received a Bachelors of Fine Art in Interior Design from Texas Tech University and a Masters of Science in Applied Gerontology from The University of North Texas. Currently, he is working on his Ph. D in Architectural Studies from the University of Missouri?Columbia. During his design career, Jim has practiced in the areas of residential, corporate, retail, facilities and healthcare/long term care design. He is a NCIDQ certificate holder and has been involved in the examination process as a proctor and juror.
Jim is a past National Director at Large of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and has served as the President of the Texas Chapter of ASID and Chair of the National Industry Advisory Council (IAC). Through his commitment to the interior design profession, he has been trained and has served as a Trainer for ASID. Presently, he uses his knowledge and training to write and present continuing education programs for education-works, inc.
